We are currently seeking a UI Designer to be a part of our innovative and creative Design team!

The team consist of 35 individuals, covering UI, Visual, UX Design and UX Research disciplines – they are a very close team, care about each other’s wellbeing and work in a collaborative manner whilst providing support to each other. Working together in unity, the team is currently embarking on exciting journey! there is a big push in digital, we’re ensuring that everything we do is user centric and focusing on solving our customers’ needs in the real world.

As a visual designer at Aviva you will be enthusiastic about design, in all its forms. Your work will primarily focus on responsive web and mobile app UI design, so a good understanding of design systems and native iOS/Material design guidelines is important. In addition, you could also be involved in concept design, illustration, icon and motion design.

You should have excellent visual design skills and know how to apply visual design principles to interactive products. Colour theory, typography, and the willing to push creative boundaries should all be part of your genetics, attention to detail is as important to you as creativity.

Responsibilities in the role:

  • Work closely with a team of UX designers and UX researchers to define, craft and deliver customer centric digital products
  • Build a strong relationship with your product and development team to ensure build reflects design standards
  • Work with Aviva’s digital brand guidelines, helping to shape and strengthen brand across our digital channels
  • Champion the need for consistent experiences and pushing for world class outputs from engineering
  • Feed into the ongoing development of the Aviva front end Framework and native App design system
  • Champion accessibility standards and best practice to ensure we’re designing for customers with disabilities
  • Collaborate with UX or pick up UX tasks when required, sometimes leading design from start to finish
  • Work closely with UX researchers, UX designers, Copywriters, Product owners and Developers, so a good understanding of these roles and responsibilities is key to good collaboration

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A portfolio of your work
  • Knowledge of Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of working with responsive web design across a range of devices
  • Experience of designing for native app including iOS and Android
  • An eye for typography, colour, layout, brand systems, and a pixel perfect attention to detail
  • Work collaboratively with developers to make your design a reality in code in an agile environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate your designs and ideas expertly and engagingly
  • Great team player with good interpersonal skills and can-do attitude

Desirable skills:

  • Agency background
  • Financial services experience
  • UX designer OR UX/UI designer
  • Low and High-fidelity prototyping

What will you get for this role?

  • Salary between £40,000 – £60,000 depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications
