2. Role Purpose

An Enterprise Security Consultant will provide business driven advice on the management of security and information risk consistent with standards and guidance including:

  • Leading in driving forward the BAE Systems AI security strategy and undertake considerable thought leadership activities.
  • Representing BAE Systems AI at industry forums, expert panels and conferences.
  • Helping clients clearly understand their exposure to cyber security threats/risks and put in place pragmatic and cost effective controls. Identify, manage and treat risk to a client’s information and information technology assets.
  • Leading in driving forward the BAE Systems AI security strategy and undertake considerable thought leadership activities. As well as represent BAE Systems AI at industry forums, expert panels and conferences.

This role is required to support the growth of our security consulting business within Financial Services.

3. Core Duties / Key Accountabilities

Accountabilities

  • Perform or lead analysis of information risks at a system, platform or organisational level, including assessment of risk, identification of options for mitigation, and assessment of compliance with control requirements
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships, articulating security advice directly to CIO or IT Director level clients, supporting clients in the development and implementation of risk management controls for both technical and non-technical controls.
  • Ensure stakeholder confidence that risks to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and systems is managed pragmatically, appropriately compliant and in a cost effective manner.
  • Provides thought leadership, support business development activities, perform delivery oversight and manage senior client engagements.
  • Works with account teams to identify new opportunities for work and support the production of quality proposals.
  • Contributes to recognized information assurance standards, policies and frameworks and compliance guidelines.

Delivery effectiveness

  • Creates frameworks for articulating concepts to colleagues/clients.
  • Tackles problems and crisis situations, inspiring confidence in the team. Leads multiple streams and/or deliverables with responsibility for delivering to stream plan.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify, articulate and measure the value we add for clients.
  • Design and develop new organisation development solutions at a business and enterprise-wide level, drawing on knowledge of external best practice. Identify and manage informal and political influences that present a risk to the success of outcomes and advise senior leaders on how to mitigate.

Planning & project management

  • Selects methods and tools, using iterative techniques, ensuring that effective project control, change control, risk management and testing processes are maintained.
  • Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital cost against the project budget and manages expectations of all project stakeholders.

Risk & commercial management

  • Identifies early on if problems/risks arise that will affect delivery and manages these appropriately. Understands which risks can be converted into (new) opportunities.
  • Contributes to monthly reporting and Project Review Boards (PRB). Takes a role in monthly reporting and management of key metrics when in the role of Engagement Manager. Produces and is accountable for Project Review Boards (PRB) for project.

Quality management

  • Demonstrates track record of successful delivery in a range of delivery.
  • Monitors client satisfaction, ensuring feedback is fed into future products/services.

Budget Holder Responsibility (if applicable):

Project dependent – will lead projects and programmes ranging from £100ks up to approx. £3m with accountability for project budgets and forecasting.

Will act as Career Manager for up to 8 other consultants and manage staff of varying grades within projects

Project dependant, ranging from small teams up to larger programmes of 15-20 consultants

4. Functional Knowledge

  • Manage risks at the Enterprise level, articulating security advice directly to CIO or IT Director level clients, supporting clients in the development and implementation of risk management controls, for both technical and non-technical controls
  • Provide leadership and oversight of information assurance, setting information assurance strategies and high-level policies
  • Works closely with business risk owners and other senior stakeholders to interpret the impact and assist in the understanding of information risk
  • Conducts data gathering interviews up to senior executive and C-Suite level, listens actively and controls the development of the interview, capturing the key points
  • Leading on practice capability knowledge repository of tools, templates, methodologies, checklists, etc.
  • Articulate when delivering presentations and in discussion with to very senior clients. Knows how to headline and bring out ideas in a convincing manner
  • Writes well-articulated, structured and client-facing documents

  • Understanding of retail banking and/or general insurance, including knowledge of market trends, regulations, and common security challenges
