Context
This role is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the EHS Management system at ECMS Solihull as well as compliance and corporate requirements.

Job Content/Main Objectives

  • Provide guidance on the EHS policy and direction.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance
  • EH&S performance improvement and the advancement of the overall EHS Management System. Provide input to goal/objective setting and support implementation of EH&S goals/targets and objectives.
  • Carryout Risk Assessments in line with company procedures
  • Drive Corrective Actions for EH&S improvement.
  • Implementing effective Change Management. Review/approve planning, design, and modification of materials, processes, operations, or building layouts.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide technical support to Line Organization.
  • Establish and actively engage with the Line Organization in implementing EH&S management system.
  • Maintain legal compliance in all EHS matters. Review current and proposed legislation. Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements by integrating requirements into procedures.
  • Maintain Risk Assessment process across site including ergonomic, machine guarding, COSHH etc in line with EHS Management System.
  • Train line management to recognize hazards and risks. Lead the Line Organization in identifying and controlling hazards and risks.
  • EHS Data collection and metric reporting (via online “EHS Smart” system).
  • Project management EHS activities to ensure continuous improvement
  • Provide support to line management for incident investigations and preventative/corrective actions
  • Develop inspection/audit program. Identify root causes of deficiencies. Conduct inspections/audits. Identify and complete preventative / corrective actions. Develop EH&S training program.
  • Deliver EH&S training. Attend EH&S training, as required. Maintain records in line with business unit retention schedule
  • Participate in Business Continuity arrangements including emergency and pandemic response
  • Maintain Fire Risk Assessment for business and execute corrective actions.
  • Analyse trends. Report to Senior Operations Management on performance – including program evaluation, and progress to goals/targets/objectives.
  • Participate in the development of continuous improvement of EHS Culture and to encourage employees to make better personal choices.
  • Provide support to Group EHS as required.

Skills/Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma or Technical member of IOSH or equivalent membership body
  • EH&S Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Proven record of implementing assessments, prevention and control techniques in manufacturing environments ideally and experienced Auditor (ISO)
  • PC Literate, strong /advanced skills within Word & Excel and advantage, plus working knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Able to influence/guide colleagues at all levels in the business.
  • Able to problem solve: creative thinking
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to organise and hold effective meetings
  • Good time management and organisation skills
  • Project management experience
