BAE Systems Applied Intelligence

DevOps Engineer (Level 4 Apprenticeship)

Start Date: October 2021

Location: London

DevOps is a philosophy and way of working that brings together two historically disparate parts of the IT organisation, namely those who develop the software and those who are then required to support it in the live environment. DevOps is one of the most sought-after skillsets in the IT and Technology industry, and BAE Systems Applied Intelligence are growing our capability in this area due to increased customer demand.

This Apprenticeship is designed to develop individuals with the required capability to become a DevOps Engineer within the Central Government area of the business. On completion of your training you will be taking responsibility for many aspects of the development and operations process – the design, build, test, implement, release and continual iteration of software and services.

Our Central Government customers play a major role in our health, safety and security, the UK economy and domestic travel. Our clients all generally have in common the need to leverage and protect population-scale data sets to inform policy and make decisions that affect individual citizens and businesses on a daily basis.

Within this environment and in line with the UK Government’s ambition to transform itself to become the world’s most digitally advanced government, we focus on the delivery and operation of solutions that:

  • Update or replace legacy technologies
  • Accelerate the move to scalable cloud-based technologies
  • Unlock the potential of the vast Government data sets
  • Strengthen cyber security
