Overall purpose of the job:

To provide support and operation of technical security measures within Water Plus, configuring security technology to protect the systems, data, and users in line with the Water Plus security policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Information Security Team helping to manage information security risks across our estate by identification, management, and mitigation of risk with a particular focus on the technical elements of security.
  • Identify cyber vulnerabilities in Water Plus systems to ensure security is maintained.
  • Identify security threats and hazards to our systems, services, and processes to inform risk assessments and design of security features.
  • Research and investigate attack techniques and recommend ways to defend against them.
  • Support cyber security risk assessments, cyber security audits and cyber security incident management.
  • Develop security designs with design justification to meet the defined cyber security parameters.
  • Configure, deploy, and use computer, digital network and cyber security technology.
  • Develop and maintain program code and script to support the deployment, execution, and audit of our security controls.
  • Provide written and verbal reports and presentations in the context of the role.
  • Both develop and participate in Cyber Security simulations to exercise controls and processes and better
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and developments to enhance relevant skills and take responsibility for own professional development.
  • Analyse security requirements and develop a security case taking account of all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Help to prevent security breaches using a variety of tools techniques and processes.
  • Work from a given design requirement to design, build and test digital networks.

Essential knowledge, experience, and skills, other attributes:

  • Understanding of the fundamentals of Information Security
  • Able to work independently
  • Organised able to manage own time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Good communicator both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of technologies including Cloud, SaaS services, the capabilities of security technologies (SIEM, proxy, firewall, certificates, etc.)
  • Experience in development of program code and scripts
  • Methodical and detail oriented
  • A strong focus on quality

Entry requirements:

  • An A Level in ICT or
  • An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT, or
  • A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject, or
  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits), or
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience within the last 24 months or 18 months in the last 36 months in an IT role.

Specific roles that are acceptable are:

  1. IT Support roles e.g. Help Desk, First line
  2. Software Development Roles

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
