Cyber Security Analyst

Hays Technology are exclusively partnered with a public sector organisation who are looking to recruit a Cyber Security Analyst on a interim 3 month basis. The client is based in Manchester and the role will be working on a hybrid basis so there will be onsite requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other members of the Technical and Operational Teams to support various projects across the organisation
    • To perform regular information security risk assessments and implement solutions to mitigate any findings
    • To keep up to date with current cyber security risks and mitigation techniques
    • To have a major contribution to the information security policy
      • To review current cyber security policies and procedures, and contribute to the further development of these
      • To have a prominent role during internal and external audits and assessments, presenting responses in a clear and concise manner
      • Work closely with the Quality Team to provide incident responses
      • Review and develop DR plans, backup, and logging approaches
      • Manage external and internal penetration testing and security scanning
      • Routinely monitor and review AV, user reports, access, and activity logs
      • Provide input and expertise for networking infrastructure and system development security concerns
      • Present technologies and processes for security improvement to the Technical Steering Group
      • Perform security assessments of third-party vendors and tools
      • Provide input to the management of organisational RAID logs
      • Creation of Cyber Security reports for the Executive Team

Essential skills

  • Degree in information technology, computer science or similar, or with equivalent industry qualifications in cyber security
  • Holds CISSP security qualification or similar (we may consider candidates who are currently undertaking the CISSP qualification or similar)
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working in the field of cyber security
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with sensitive, identifiable data
  • Sound understanding of information security risk assessment and mitigation
  • Understanding of Cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS (ideally Azure), web application security (OWASP Top 10) and database technology
  • Good knowledge of networking and infrastructure (virtualisation, firewalls, NVAs, proxies) and experience of hardening and securing internal and external networks and resources
  • Experienced with internal/external security auditing and penetration testing
  • Familiarity with common security standards (e.g., ISO27001, SOC2)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to undertake professional development

Desirable skills

  • Good experience of some of the following: SQL Server, Azure, OWASP ZAP, Burp, Active Directory, O365, Squid cache, Azure Sentinel
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Security standards including NHS Toolkit, HMG Cyber Essentials, Cloud Security Principles, DPST
  • Experience of working with GP, hospital, NHS-Digital or other healthcare data
  • Experience of working in validated computer system environment
